Health Advisory issued for 4 Tampa beaches

Tampa, Florida-- Hillsborough County saltwater beach monitoring results revealed traces of enterococci bacteria, resulting in a Health Advisory for four Tampa Beaches:

Ben T. Davis, (North, and South)
Cypress Point, (North, and South)
Davis Island
Simmons Park

According to the Health Department, this should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public.

Samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria, and the beach will be re-sampled Monday, July 2, 2012.

Health Department: Flood waters pose health risk

Tampa, Florida - The Hillsborough County Health Department warns against swimming or wading through floods left around the Bay area from Tropical Storm Debby,

According to a recent release, skin contact with flood waters does not, by itself, pose a serious health risk, but health hazards are a concern when waters become contaminated.

Flood waters may contain fecal material, associated bacteria, and viruses.

The Hillsborough County Health Department recommends the following precautions to prevent possible illness from flood waters:

Screen on the Green: Shrek showing rescheduled due to rain

Tampa, Florida-- Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Screen on the Green showing of the movie Shrek has been rescheduled for Friday, June 29 at 8:30 p.m. in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

Linda Carlo, the superintendent of the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, made the announcement just before 6 this everning.
