Registration deadline extended to Sept. 15 for Straz Student Orchestra and Choral Festivals

Tampa, Florida-- The deadline for middle and high school students to register to participate in the Straz Center’s Student Orchestra Festival and Student Choral Festival has been extended until Saturday, September 15.

Both festivals will be held next month and will be first for the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Tampa.

Tampa, Florida-- The University of South Florida Bulls kick off the football season tomorrow at 7 p.m.!

Beginning at 7 p.m., the Bulls will take on the Chattanooga Mocs at Raymond James Stadium.

South Tampa, Florida-- Taking a child to a live theatrical performance is a memorable experience. When you see the excitement on the child’s face and the glow in his or her eyes, you witness the magic that theater can produce.

Free Music Class at Patel Conservatory

Tampa, Florida-- On top of all the other benefits that Patel Conservatory students receive, this year students have the chance to take a new music study class for free.

The Fundamentals of Music class covers the basics of music reading, terminology and notation and is open to those in fourth grade through adults. Youth and high school students who are enrolled in another Patel Conservatory class can take this class for free; adults will be charged a fee.

Auditions for Kiss Me Kate on Friday

Kiss Me, Kate, the Tony-award winning Cole Porter musical set in the 1940s, will be presented by Patel Conservatory Youth Theater Productions in November, and the Conservatory will audition potential cast members this Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.

Auditions are open to those in grades seven through college.

Kiss Me, Kate will be performed - with a live Patel Conservatory orchestra! - Nov. 8-10 and 15-17 in the TECO Theater at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

Clearwater, Florida-- Employees from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Majestic Athletic and students from USF's new Sports and Entertainment Management MBA Program will celebrate the new department in USF's College of Business with a day of community service. 

USF's new program offers an MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management, made possible by the Lightning Foundation and the USF College of Business.
