TAMPA, Florida (AP) - An Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel who works with U.S. Central Command in Tampa as a civilian has been arrested in Orlando.
The Tampa Tribune reports that Stephen Governale was arrested Friday and charged with using the Internet to try and persuade a 17-year-old to have sex. In a federal complaint, the teen told investigators he traveled with Governale on two occasions and engaged in sexual acts with him.
The 49-year-old Governale was arrested by the FBI after he arrived at a fast-food restaurant where he planned to meet the teen after several sexually explicit Facebook chats.
Governale, who has been appointed a federal public defender, is in custody at the Seminole County Jail with no bail. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.
