Tampa waiting for wading waters to recede
TAMPA, Florida - Bayshore Boulevard remained closed for a third straight evening as sea water remains several inches - to several feet - deep between Rome Ave. and Platt St.
Several of the newly-planted palm trees on the bayfront roadway had been toppled by winds and water, but nursery experts don't expect serious damage to the new landscaping.
Meanwhile, boaters around Davis Islands spent a frantic morning trying to save loose boats that were swept out of Seaplane Basin by the choppy and fast-rising waters.
