Tampa, Florida -- A Hillsborough Sheriff's deputy was injured in an accident while assisting in the presidential motorcade escorting President Obama to the Port of Tampa on Friday.
Officials say that during the escort, the motorcade suddenly came upon a large speed bump at Guy Verger Boulevard and Barge Avenue. Before the motorcade could slow down, the units involved drove over the speed bump causing one deputy to be thrown from his motorcycle.
Deputy Chad Keen, 37, landed on the pavement and received severe road rash and a possible dislocated shoulder. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.
The motorcade continued without stopping and escorted President Obama safely to his destination.
