Winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Florida

USA- Today -- Check those Powerball tickets Florida residents: One of you is holding the winning ticket in the record $590.5 million jackpot.

The winning numbers in Saturday night's Powerball drawing are 10, 13, 14, 22, 52 and 11, and one ticket sold in Florida has matched all six numbers for a record Powerball jackpot of an estimated $590.5 million, lottery officials said Sunday.

Assistant principal denied service dog at school

Tampa, Florida -- The Americans with Disabilities Act says service dogs are working dogs and are free to go anywhere. But when an assistant principal in Hillsborough County asked the district if she could bring her service dog to school their answer was, "No."

Agnes Tanon-Rodenbach, 47, says she spent five months going through the proper channels to get permission to bring her dog to work with her, but the district's answer is still no. 

Rodenbach is on medical leave for a disability she describes as invisible but says is very real. 

Black bear captured in Tampa neighborhood

Tampa, Florida -- A 300-pound black bear wandered into a Tampa neighborhood this morning and up a tree before wildlife officials captured the animal by shooting it with two tranquilizer darts.

Eloy Perez first spotted the bear in the backyard home at 2817 Broad Street W. after letting his dog outside.

"The dog saw it behind the oak tree and went up to it and started barking at (the bear)," Perez recalled.

Is the Bay area experiencing a housing boom?

South Tampa, Florida -- A company called Metrostudy says it spent three months driving across five Bay area counties checking out 2,100 subdivisions to find out the condition of the construction market.

Home builder Peter Bennett wouldn't call the growth a boom -- not yet -- but says he is finally seeing growth. 

"Everywhere you look there's a new house going up. A couple of years ago, there was nothing."

Bennett says he even has a waiting list of clients these days.

Air pollution precaution issued for Hillsborough County

Tampa, Florida --  The Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County is issuing an Air Pollution precaution due to elevated levels of the pollutant ozone.

This precautionary statement is effective immediately Friday, May 17. 

Elevated concentrations have been observed at multiple air monitoring stations and there is still a potential for levels to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups.

This precaution is based on elevated concentrations of ozone observed at multiple air monitoring stations throughout the day.
