National Senior Health & Fitness Day and Open House

Tampa, Florida-- The National Senior Health and Fitness Day and Open House is coming up at the end of this month! It is set to take place on Wednesday, May 29, from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Hillsborough County Aging Services will host an open house on National Senior Health and Fitness Day at several of its Centers. Each of the following centers will offer a variety of exercises and activities:

Moffitt Cancer Center's Magnolia Ball coming up

The Moffitt Cancer Center will be holding its annual Magnolia Ball Saturday, April 20 at A La Carte Pavillion.

The Magnolia Ball is one of the most popular charity events in Tampa Bay. Three-time, Grammy Award-winning rock band Train will be the entertainment.

Some of the money raised from this event has helped the Moffitt Cancer Center reach many milestones including:

Philphest offers free skin cancer screenings, music and more!

Oldsmar, Florida -- On Saturday, April 6, a young man will be remembered during a free skin cancer screening. His family has organized the 7th annual Philphest, Benefit by the Bay.

Philip Bryant died in 2006 from complications of melanoma. He was athletic, a football player and healthy until he was diagnosed at the age of 22 .

His family tells us he had a mole that no one really noticed was becoming irregular and growing. When he finally got it checked out, it was too late.

His family set up a foundation in the Philip's name.

Hillsborough County’s tap water rates best in the area

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Fearful of the faucet? Well, there's no need to be if you hail from Hillsborough!

According to a release sent from county officials today, water from a Hillsborough faucet is some of the finest!

It was tested against competitors in an annual water-tasting contest last Friday, and came out on top in it's region, which includes Citrus, Hernando Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter Counties.

Fight for Air Climb

Tampa, Florida -- The American Lung Association will host the 8th annual Fight for Air Climb Tampa presented by Kindred Hospital.

1,000 participants will climb the 41 flights of stairs (914 steps) at the Bank of America Plaza. The Tampa climb is one of the top 10 highest fundraising climbs in the country and the largest climb in the Southeast.
