Glazer Museum hosts "Snowy Weekend"

Tampa, Florida -- The Glazer Children's Museum is sponsoring a "snowy weekend" Dec. 17 and 18.

While it may not be snowing outside, the museum is celebrating frosty weather inside!

You can watch the museum staff make ice cream out of liquid nitrogen, learn more about snowflakes, discover COOL facts about winter and even make snowy crafts!

Programs will be held throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County Commissioners will honor one of this community's fallen soldiers: First Lieutenant Dimitri A. Del Castillo.

Family members have been invited to a special presentation to be held during the Hillsborough County Commission meeting Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m., at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., 2nd Floor, in Tampa.

First Lieutenant Dimitri A. Del Castillo, age 24, died June 25, in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

Four new food trucks join Mayor Food Fiesta

Tampa, Florida -- Four new food trucks will join Mayor Buckhorn's Food Truck Fiesta downtown on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Joe Chillura Courthouse Square on East Kennedy Boulevard and North Morgan Street.

"Last month's event was a success for the entire downtown community, and now, the city says it is building on that success," Mayor Bob Buckhorn said in a release. "There will be a few new options this time around, and we encourage everyone in and around downtown to stop by."

Glazer Children's Museum offers free admission Dec. 6

Tampa, FL -- The Glazer Children's Museum is offering free admission tomorrow, Dec. 6, for the last Target Tueday event of 2011.

Target Tuesdays, held the first Tuesday of each month, are an ongoing effort to make the Museum accessible to all members of the community. Admissions during these special hours are normally at the reduced cost of $2.

Admission is free for visitors tomorrow from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The museum is located at 110 W. Gasparilla Ave. in Tampa (next to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park).
