Plan calls for property tax reduction | Events
Tampa, Florida -- If preliminary plans go into effect, Hillsborough Commissioners will reduce the millage for homeowners next month at its final budget hearings September 12 and September 20.
Commission is proposing reducing the millage rate by 4.24 percent from the aggregate roll-back millage rate. That means a person with a home valued at $165,000 would see a $1 reduction in property taxes.
If the plan goes through as planned it would the 18th consecutive year Hillsborough Commissioners have reduced the millage rate.
Although the millage rate is going down, the proposed new budget funds additional parks and recreation centers; a new Hillsborough County Sports Complex; improving the 10 most dangerous intersections; expanding the sidewalk program, resurfacing road and stormwater projects.
The budget hearings will be held in the 2nd floor boardroom at the County Center 601 East Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.
