Florida Aquarium to release rehabilitated turtle into wild

Tampa, Florida-- The Florida Aquarium's vet staff successfully rehabilitated a Green Sea Turtle, whom they found under the Howard Frankland Bridge, and fittingly named "Howard."

According to the Aquarium, Howard has been recuperating at the Aquarium since his rescue in March, and is finally ready to be released back into the wild. 

The Center for Conservation Team, comprised of staff and volunteers, will release Howard back to his natural habitat around 11 a.m. today.

Tampa, Florida-- The advisory issued on June 26 for Ben T. Davis beach (South) has been lifted.

Testing produced satisfactory results, according to the Hillsborough County Health Department.

The advisory for Ben T. Davis Beach was issued on June 26 along with advisories for Davis Island beach, Simmons Park beach, Cypress Point beach, (North, and South).

Tampa Bay History Center gets LEED Silver status

Tampa Bay History Center gets LEED Silver status

Tampa,Florida -- The Tampa Bay History Center in Downtown Tampa has become the first county building to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED  Silver certification. The Certification comes from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The 60,000-square-foot building was built with renewable materials and more than 95 percent of the construction debris was diverted from Florida Landfills.

Tampa, Florida-- TECO announces a new Neighborhood Weatherization Program intended to help low-income families save energy and money.

TECO says they have created the, "innovative new program to install energy-saving items in thousands of low-income homes at no cost to homeowners," and that utilizing the measures could save residents, " more than $100 a year."

Health Advisory lifted for 2 Tampa beaches

Health Advisory lifted for 2 Tampa beaches

Tampa, Florida-- As of june 13, the Hillsborough County Health Department has lifted the health advisory  that was issued on June 6 for Ben T. Davis, (South), and Davis Island beach.

According to a recent release, follow-up testing was satisfactory based on the marine water bacterial indicator results as recommended by the EPA.
