TAMPA, Florida (AP) - A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally shooting a man during a robbery.
A Hillsborough County judge sentenced 30-year-old Joshua Coleman on Wednesday. Coleman was convicted of second-degree murder after declining a jury trial.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that Coleman was arrested in 2010 on the day he was supposed to be released from prison on an unrelated armed robbery conviction. While he was in prison, witnesses came forward, telling police Coleman was responsible for the unsolved 2007 fatal robbery of 26-year-old Tedrick Dewayne Maynard.
Coleman told the judge he did not kill Maynard but would not snitch on the true killer.
