The hunt is on for Tampa's Top Chef

Tampa, Florida-- Mark you calenders! Monday, March 25, 2013, Champions for Children's 4th Annual Top Chef of the Year Tampa Bay event will be held at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa. 

This event gives chefs complete freedom to create a dining experience like no other, and encourages them to channel their inner creativity to design everything from menu to décor.

Tampa, Florida -- If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know that they are marked by diversity. Dozens of people born in different countries, old and young, gathered together to take an oath and become U.S. citizens.

But on Thursday, March 14th, the group will have one noticeable thing in common- they will all be women.

The special ceremony is being held in honor of Women's History Month.

Ruskin, Florida - This Friday, Hillsborough County's Aging Services Division will host its annual Wacky Olympics event for all Hillsborough County residents age 50 and over. 

This year the Nascar-themed event will be held from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Brandon Community Center at 502 E. Sadie St. in Brandon.

Organizers say the Wacky Olympics has been an Aging Services tradition for more than 20 years, and each year, a center is named Wacky Olympics' Champion. Ruskin Senior Center was named Wacky Olympics winner  last year.

'Each One-Reach One' & site launch to tackle foster family recruitment goals

Tampa, Florida-- Despite Tampa Bay's lead in the state for the number of newly licensed foster families, state and local officials say they are still in desparate need of willing and well-suited parents as nearly 2,000 Bay area foster children remain. 

The recent "Fostering Florida's Future"  and "1200 New Foster Parents in 12 Months" initiatives have helped the Bay area land over 150 new foster homes just this year, and DCF officials say they are rolling out two new recruitment efforts to keep the growth going.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Women's Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, March 28, and organizers say tickets for the exciting event are still available for purchase. 

The luncheon, which will honor three remarkable women, will be held at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St. in Tampa from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

PRECO Selects Students for Washington DC Trip

Wauchula, Florida-- Two local 11th graders were selected by Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) to attend the national “Youth Tour to Washington DC” event, a weeklong tour with1,500 students from 46 states.

Shakera Latimore of Southeast High School in Bradenton, and Savannah Miller of Hardee High School in Wauchula, along with about 30 other students from Florida electric cooperatives, will enjoy the rich history of the nation’s Capitol firsthand.
