Free Florida Orchestra performance Thursday night
Tampa, Florida -- Tonight at 7:30 p.m., The Florida Orchestra will perform a free Pops in the Park Concert in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park
The orchestra will offer a program of familiar symphonic favorites including the "Overture" to Johann Strauss, Jr's Die Fledermaus and his Eljen a Magyar Polka, and a waltz from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. The concert also includes selections from My Fair Lady and The Phantom of the Opera, along with John Williams' Superman March and Tchaikovsky's explosive 1812 Overture.
Steven Byess will conduct.
Guests are welcome to bring blankets and picnic dinners. Food vendors will be on site as well, and Blue Bell Ice Cream will be sampling its famous Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Attendees are asked to bring canned food donations for Tampa Bay Harvest's food bank.
Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park is located at 600 North Ashley Drive, Tampa.
