TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 16 University of Tampa (16-0) men's basketball team continued its record start, this time breaking the program record for consecutive wins. UT surpassed the previous school record of 15 games from the 1999-2000 squad with an 82-65 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University (9-7).
Fred Woods came off the bench to finish with his second double-double of the season, netting 14 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. The senior forward also led UT with six blocked shots in 30 minutes of action.
The Spartans return to Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday as it hosts longtime rival Florida Southern College at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Martinez Sports Center. The meeting will be between the top two teams in the SSC as FSC is 3-1 in league play.
