Plant overwhelms Hillsborough, 36-6

Tampa, FL-- In Hillsborough County's oldest rivalry, Plant overwhelmed Hillsborough, 36-6.

Plant QB James Few was 8 of 12 passing, for 121 yards, and 3 touchdowns, 2 of them to Austin Aiken.  Few also ran for a score.  The Panthers scored 17 points in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters to pull away.

Plant is now 2-0.  The Terriers fell to 1-1.

SlutWalk Tampa fights against victim blaming

Tampa, FL -- On Saturday, Sept. 17, Tampa residents will take to the streets in downtown for SlutWalk Tampa, a rally and march designed to end rape, victim blaming and to reclaim the word "slut".

The event will kick off at 11 a.m. at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square, located on the corner of Morgan, Kennedy, Pierce & Madison.

The Tampa SlutWalk will consist of a rally, a walk and a small expo of vendors and organizations at the park for participants after the walk. The rally's guest speakers will include academics, anti-rape activists, rape survivors, sex workers and others who will provide personal testimonies.

For all who plan to participate, a Poster Making Party is going on this Saturday, Sept. 10 at VFW 424, located at 105 West Broad Street.

Health advisory for 3 Tampa area beaches

Tampa, FL -- The Hillsborough County Health Dept. has issued a health advisory for Picnic Island Beach, Bahia Beach and Davis Island Beach after samples came back with high levels of enterococci bacteria.

These levels are considered a potential health risk to the public.

The presence of bacteria is an indication of fecal pollution, which may come from storm water runoff, pets and wildlife, and human sewage.

Hills. commissioners vote to restore after-school programs

Tampa, FL --  After parents were outraged about proposed major cutbacks to after-school programs, Hillsborough County commissioners have approved to restore the Parks and Recreation programs.

At a meeting Thursday afternoon, commissioners voted to offer services at 18 centers.

Some had previously expressed opposition to keeping the programs and forcing them to be subsidized by tax payers who don't have children.

Tampa man with dementia reported missing

Tampa, Florida - Police are looking for an elderly man with Dementia who hasn't been seen since he left a store on N. 40th Street Thursday afternoon.

Chester Taylor, 86, of 4239 Curtis St. E., was last seen wearing a long sleeve black pullover sweater, blue denim jeans, and a brownish-green baseball cap. He is missing his two front teeth and has large framed copper rim glasses. He has gray hair and brown eyes.

He may be in the area of 15th St. N and MLK or Floribraska Ave and Nebraska Ave.

Police say he is considered endangered. Anyone who sees him is asked to call Tampa Police.

Tampa, Florida - Barbara Campbell says her life has changed completely.

She can no longer play with her kids.

She can't have sex with her husband.

She can barely work.

The blonde mother-of-two says she spends most of her off-time suffering with a heating pad on the couch.
