Castor hosts Jobs and Community Resource Fair March 3

Tampa, Fla. -- U.S. Representative Kathy Castor has released the list of employers who will be present to meet directly with job-seekers at her 2012 Jobs and Community Resource Fair.

The Job Fair will be this Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Workforce Tampa Career Center (formerly Floriland Mall), located at 9215 N. Florida Ave.

Seminole Hard Rock: Over 400 jobs up for grabs

TAMPA, Fla. - The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa plans to hire over 400 new team members as part of its $75 million expansion, which is slated to open in early summer 2012. A job fair will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds on April 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Job applicants must apply online beforehand. Applications are now available at www.jobsforflorida.com.

Tampa council approves $2M in surveillance cameras

TAMPA, Florida - A last-minute addition to city council's agenda will bring surveillance cameras to Downtown Tampa this summer. A 6-1 vote Thursday morning approved a $2 million purchase - once criticized just for its possible intrusiveness, but now also for its lack of transparency.

DAVIS ISLANDS, Florida -- The story starts inside a room at the Junior League of Tampa. A group of women rips open bags, examines tags, and separates clothing into piles.

"We got the skirts," Ginny Daniel says.

The women pack them up in crisp, new backpacks for children who they may never know.

"Someone that's getting this backpack is going to feel a little bit better," Daniel says.

New high tech mammogram delivers HALF radiation

A new high tech tool available only at Moffitt Cancer Center's South Tampa outpatient location, allows you to have a mammogram with half the radiation dose of a regular mammogram.

Moffitt Cancer Center doctors say this is the only machine in the entire Southeastern United States to deliver a high resolution, crystal clear digital image with low dose radiation.

Beach advisory issued for Picnic Island

Tampa, Fla. -- The Hillsborough County Health Department has issued a health advisory for Picnic Island Beach due to high levels of enterococci bacteria.

The county health department says swimmers should be advised this is considered a potential health risk.

The beach will be re-sampled on Monday, March 5.
