Code Enforcement water appeals to be heard

Tampa, Florida -- A Special Code Enforcement Magistrate will hear appeals of water violations at 9 a.m. Monday, April 2 in the 2nd floor boardroom at the County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in Downtown Tampa.

The Special Magistrate can hear violations of all code and ordinances in the county to maintain health and safety standards.

If you plan to appeal a decision of the Magistrate, the County says you will need a record of the proceedings and may need a verbatim record which includes the testimony and evidence you plan to use.

Tampa, Florida -- Twelve of Tampa Bay’s finest executive chefs battled it out in front of 160 guests at the Child Abuse Council’s 3rd Annual Top Chef of the Year Tampa Bay event on March 26.

Courses ranged from popular crowd favorites, such as Kobe beef tenderloin and lobster bisque to food with a twist, such as squid-ink pappardelle and bacon ice cream. They came, they cooked and they conquered.

South Tampa, Florida - Many people say eating healthy is expensive. Author, Ellen Jaffe, will show you how to "Eat Vegan on $4 a Day!" The nationally certified personal trainer and certified running coach will show you how to make easy, affordable changes to eat a plant based diet.

The talk will take place Wednesday, March 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Whole Foods Market in South Tampa, off Dale Mabry.

A $10 donation will go to the Whole Planet Foundation, a micro-lending program assisting poor women in developing countries start home-based businesses.

Traffic alert: Major crash on I-275 north into Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- A serious accident brought rush hour traffic to a crawl, northbound on Interstate 275, leading into Tampa.

The Florida Highway Patrol says three vehicles crashed at 4 p.m., near the end of the Howard Frankland Bridge and just before the Tampa International Airport and Kennedy exits.

Mayor wants zone to control GOP Convention protesters

Tampa, Florida -- A large Clean Zone would encompass several neighborhoods during the 2012 Republican National Convention and impose special restrictions to control convention protests.

August's Republican National Convention is expected to bring flocks of protesters to Downtown Tampa.

Next week, Mayor Bob Buckhorn will ask City Council to outline a large area of the city as a so-called "Clean Zone."

During the GOP Convention, inside the Clean Zone, those protesters will face a slew of special restrictions.
